The new parliament will convene on Aug. 28, one day before the deadline. Even though the Communist Party still holds the most seats, for the first time it is in the minority. The Communist Party has made it clear it will not support the presidency of opposition leader Marian Lupu. Some party leaders called Lupu a "traitor" promoting "a radical nationalist agenda." The standoff could mean the political crisis will not be resolved soon.
Outgoing President Vladimir Voronin made a trip to meet with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev in Sochi on Au. 21. this political crisis haves no end.
